Moroccan King Mohammed VI ordered the government to send planes loaded with food to Qatar, according to a statement released Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Rabat says its decision seeks to bar the way to third countries that want to exploit situation to take positions in Qatar, in region, in reference to Iran.

Morocco reiterated its solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, saying that its decision also sought to bar the way to third countries that want to exploit the situation to take positions in Qatar and in the region, in reference to Iran.

“On the instruction of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has decided to send aircraft loaded with food products to the State of Qatar,” said the statement.

This decision comes in accordance with the precepts of the holy Islamic religion which encourages solidarity and mutual help among the Islamic peoples especially in this blessed month of Ramadan, it added.

Saudi Arabia and allies including the UAE and Bahrain cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday, accusing it of supporting extremism.

As well as cutting air, sea and land links with Qatar, the countries ordered its citizens to leave within 14 days.

Rabat insisted that its decision has no connection with the political aspects of the crisis between Qatar and other fraternal countries.

The position of the Kingdom of Morocco on the crisis between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Egypt and other Arab countries on the one hand.

The State of Qatar on the other, emanates from the clear principles that underpin its foreign policy,said the statement.

Morocco expressed on Sunday its willingness to mediate with a view to fostering a frank and comprehensive dialogue on the basis of non-interference in internal affairs between Qatar and the other Arab countries.
