Electra Hotels & Resorts, a group counting 51 years in hospitality and tourism, was distinguished for its steady growth and innovative business program, during the prestigious “Diamonds of the Greek Economy” event organized by New Times Publishing.

Director of Sales Konstantinos Sdralis received the award during a ceremony held at the Grande Bretagne Hotel in Athens, in the presence of state officials, tourism executives and 500 representatives of the country’s most dynamic business groups.

The annual event honors Greek enterprises and their executives for their excellence in entrepreneurship and their positive prospects, as well as their business plans in dealing with the consequences of the crisis in the Greek economy.

Electra Hotels & Resorts operates under the philosophy of pure Greek hospitality and aims at creating a comfortable environment full of luxurious elements.

During the past five decades, Electra’s hotels have hosted more than 6.5 million discerning travelers in its properties in Thessaloniki, Crete, Rhodes and recently in Athens, at the five-star Electra Metropolis, which opened its doors in December 2016.

Meanwhile, Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura recently discussed tourism issues with American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President Nick Larigakis who headed a delegation of Greek-American students from the American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) College.

The meeting with Minister Kountoura was held during the students’ annual foreign policy trip to Greece and Cyprus during which they were informed on foreign policy issues that are important to the Greek American community and United States interests in the eastern Mediterranean.

During the meeting at the Tourism Ministry in Athens, Minister Kountoura informed the students on Greece’s tourism policy and the country’s record performance in arrivals over the past two years.

She also referred to the growth the sector has recorded so far this season

Moreover, the minister presented the plan of targeted actions for the dynamic promotion of the Greek tourism product in the United States and referred to actions that have been implemented to strengthen direct air links between Greece and the US and to attract interest from American Groups for tourism investments in the country.

On their part, the AHI students expressed their admiration for Greece and informed the minister that the country is one of the most popular destinations of Americans.

The American Hellenic Institute is a non-profit Greek-American think tank and public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
