He's been on the run for a year, but Port Elizabeth's public enemy number two was arrested Thursday night.

This comes after an irate hotel owner offered a R3000 reward on social media for information to flush him out.

He’s nicknamed, the bathroom bandit, for his penchant for pilfering toilet seats.

His looting spree came to a sticky end when he was flushed out by the owner of the Phoenix Hotel, Warrick Ofsowitz after he allegedly stole three toilet seats in eight months.

This left Ofsowitz struggling to unclog the mystery, as to what he did with the hotel's prized possessions.

It's got to be perverted or kinky I don't know, psychologists can tell you what he is going to do with it or why he's got this fetish about toilets seats we have no idea, laughed Phoenix Hotel Owner, Warrick Ofsowitz.

The Hotel's CCTV footage shows the bandit scoping out the area to ensure the coast is clear.

He ignores the warning signs on the walls, before slipping into the women’s bathroom.

Just 5 minutes later, he seems to emerge with his loot in a plastic bag.

I lost my sense of humour, we got the guy in tape, we have cameras all over the hotel so we put it on our Facebook page we have 30 odd thousand people, it pretty much went viral.

100 000 people saw it and we offered a reward of R3000, a R1000 a toilet seat for the arrest and conviction of him and pretty much 24 hours later a person phoned and said I know who he is, said Ofsowitz.

But the alleged thief was on a roll, as he even made off with the toilet paper, much to the amusement of some of the Hotel patrons.

Well I believe you need to bring your own roll which is a bit rough but they do still provide toilet paper so that's ok, joked Peter Searle a patron.

For now, the police have caught the suspect red handed.

But, he’s still to face the long arm of the law.
