Downtown food forest walkabout with Morag and Costa from ABC Gardening Australia
Costa and I have a great rave as we walkabout through this amazing downtown food forest. We talk about urban food growing, permaculture, local food and other things that inspire. My 11yo daughter, and permaculture apprentice, did a great job filming us. I hope you enjoy this 18:48 minute film.
The food forest is located at the William Angliss Institute in Melbourne – home of the Masters of Food Systems and Gastronomy and venue for the 2018 Urban Agriculture Forum.
Earlier this week I posted a link to Costa’s Facebook live interview at the Urban Agriculture Conference.
The food forest is surrounded by high inner city buildings.
This food forest is also called a raingarden. A raingarden is a self-watering, low-maintenance garden designed to protect our waterways, by capturing stormwater that runs off hard surfaces when it rains. Check out Melbourne Water’s useful introductory resource for this.
